Chiptune is a form of electronic music that is mainly produced using the sound chips from vintage computers and video game consoles. The genre, which draws its personality from the simplicity of the sounds created by these vintage chips, has its roots in Japan's video game soundtracks and in the Japanese electronica musicians who sampled them, namely YMO. Although its a worldwide scene, there's naturally a lot of exciting chiptune music coming out of the motherland, Japan!
