DJ Baku Live Commentary

DJ Baku performed a completely unique set the other night as was previously reported by HearJapan here. We went to the show and thought we would jot down a few of our impressions of the show. The show overall was great. DJ Baku’s experiment with the band was alright, but nothing exceptional. As mentioned in the link above DJ Baku’s music was interpreted through a band. In this band the bassist played intermittently. The entire essence of Baku seemed to disappear with the band playing as well. Normally DJ Baku is the center of the attention (minus when he’s with a famous MC), however now he was just another member who was on the sidelines. I also felt that the band simplified a lot of his material which is normally quite complex. The other artists of the night including OAK, goth-trad, themselves, etc. all performed really great sets.
