Megamasso Live 02.06

HearJapan recently saw Megamasso live at the event “invisible [libido] from hell Tokyo death”. The band started out with Beautiful Girl which sounded great and was made better with Ryohei’s dance. Ryohei’s was energetic for the whole night with a goofy smile on his face while spinning around in circles. He wore short shorts overalls over a red flanel shirt with a grey fluffy scarf. For the next song the band played their newest single which was released as a digital only single on HearJapan, Raidenmushufushu. INZARGI held his finger in the air waving it around and when it would get to the part of “for you” he would slowly lead his finger to point it at the audience. The song was done very well but often the bells overpowered the guitar during the refrains. He sung passionately throughout with his clenched hand often pushed up against his chest. He wore a white hoody with a black shirt splattered with gold stars. While the two members added a lot to the performance, Gou detracted from it. He often stood in a dark area of the stage and didn’t show himself much. He wore a red leather jacket.

The band took a break and INZARGI started speaking. He announces that on March 25th, their new single “bless” will come out (which will be available on HearJapan). He starts singing the intro of the song which apparently starts off with him. He then stops after a few seconds and says, “You get the idea”. Well we didn’t and wanted to hear the whole song! But we’ll have to wait until release date. Then he went into a story about the recording for the new song. Apparently Gou said during recording that after they record the song that they should go to eat and that he would pay for the meal. INZARGI and Ryohei’s were “blessed” to have this offer and were eager to take him up on it. After they finished recording the song, he simply disappeared. So INZARGI and Ryohei went alone to eat together. It was a sad day. Currently in Japan, the banana diet is very popular and Ryohei is currently on that. He is losing weight but wants to lose more. The audience all said “awwww”. However the second he sits down he orders a dessert packed with ice cream and sweats.

The band then played SUPERNOVA with it’s heavy guitars and dark singing with a vibrato touch. This quick paced song was accompanied by red lighting and seizure inducing strobe lights. For the second to last song, the band played Sasukuwacchiranka, an older song of the band. The band had their dancing down pat but the solo had been botched slightly. The last song was LIPS which the band played solidly. At the end the band got into a huddle and said “see you at Akasaka Blitz”.
