totos – Super Shoes | [Powerpop]
While Super Shoes might technically be a maxi-single, this release from totos is actually a full blown album. Maybe a two-for-one package. The first half is comprised of totos usual brand of easy-going pop-rock and indie/bedroom style productions. They have a bit of a retro throwback feel to their sunshine soaked tunes, heavy on the vocal melodies and hazy production. The second half of the release features a collection of remixes. There are decidedly more electronic in nature, adding energy and a dance groove to most of the tracks. They still maintaining totos’ sense of playfulness and fun.
If the “jazz” tag doesn’t scare you off, then the far-out, experimental nature of Sufoffo’s music probably will. But when the weak of ear have fallen to the wayside, those with a more refined sensibility will find a wealth of sonic structural treasure to enjoy. Sufoffo takes a jazz mentality and applies it to acapella, death metal and, yes, even occasionally plain old jazz. Many of their songs are heavy on the vocals, something rare in more normal jazz circles. But that’s not to say that they can’t craft and catchy song now and then. The Best has a little something for everyone with the fortitude to give it a try.
keke is a vocal duo that produces some pretty huge, almost epic feel-good music. Countering their big tracks are smaller, more intimate song showcasing the total control they each have over their voices.
Hirokazu Uno – Warera ga Doushi | [Video Game Music]
You might find a better song to have stuck in your head for days, but this theme song for the pachinko game CR Fuun Shinsengumi can be sung by anyone. Pass it along to the next unsuspecting victim.
Amekaze Shokudou – MOTHEAR | [Hip-Hop]
This is a stunning debut album from the experimental hip-hop duo consisting of Paranel (beatmaking, rapping, poetry and songs) and Madogarasu (rapping and poetry). Full of expansive textures and dark beats, this is one for your ears.
Mayumi Kojima – Blue Rondo | [J-pop]
Mayumi Kojima returns for the 8th time with a new album full of jangly retro tunes and a bright, modern sound. Super super upbeat and fun, perfect for spring!

Flute Orgel Ensemble – Kaze Harmonize Miyazaki Hayao no Miryoku | [Music Box]
It shouldn’t be any surprise that Miyazaki films inspire so many tribute albums. This one from Flute Orgel Ensemble is simple, light and calming with its flute and twinkling orgel arrangements.
Ayano Kawamura – Osakana Tengoku 2010 | [J-pop]
This is something of a theme song for the fishing industry in Kochi Prefecture. Oh, and it’s sung by a 10 year old girl. Irresistible!
