Feelin down? Try Enka

In these economic down times sometimes all you really need is to listen to some enka. Enka like the blues is a traditional music form from the late 20s that is still being played today. In fact, if you go to any CD store in Japan you will be assaulted with shelves of enka music. As the most representative store of Japanese music on the net we at Hearjapan labored to get enka music on the site. Since most enka performers are in their 50s and 60s it is difficult to explain to them what digital distribution is. But one label saw the light. Orient Records let us release 20 of their prized enka catalog to let people from all around the world experience this uniquely Japanese art form.
