Second of three volumes, featuring classic soundtracks from Hayao Miyazaki blockbusters like "My Neighbor Totoro," "Always with me (from Spirited Away)," and "It becomes a wind (from The Cat Returns)" all adapted to the orgel, or a music box, in English. Brought to you by the well-known music box manufacturer, abend.
Apparently, in 1989 there was a so-called music box boom in Japan. They were quickly sold off the shelves of haberdasheries nationwide, as people at the time were in dire search and need of anything to relax and calm the tension of the bubble economy's collapse.
At this time, abend decided to capitalize on the idea of a music box as an instrument. The people at abend painstakingly researched a wide range of mechanisms and sampled sounds, they also abandoned the idea of being pigeonholed into one genre, thus came the first gift CD, which was released in select stores during the Christmas season of 1989, where it topped out as the number one selling item at said stores. With this as the jump off, Oricon Magazine decided to do a piece, and subsequently orders from record companies came flying in. Even now, abend only works on making tracks to be adapted to music boxes.
Don't forget to check out volumes 1 and 3, as well!!!
