Eel is a female duo from western Japan. After releasing their first album in 1999, which was heavily influenced by French pop and bossa nova, they started to produce music, sometimes referred to as "back-ground music" or BGM. With a style that eventually evolved into an intriguing brand of whisper-voice techno-pop driven by hyper beats, they released an amazing 3 albums in 2001 alone.

In 2002, they joined the label ROMZ and made an abrupt change in style. This change pushed them toward what could be described as classical-infused noise music. Even before this exciting change in style, they had already sold more than 30,000 copies of their previous albums, seen their music placed on numerous compilations and video game soundtracks, as well as racked up quite a bit of press in both online and print media.

After a three year wait, they released their 4th album in 2004 entitled "Little Prince". This album samples freely from a wide variety of genres including break core, funk, electro, etc and molds them into memorable pop. In 2008 Eel has been doing their part to help out elegant disc by releasing some rather elegant music.
