Intersecting music and visual art is the main theme of the duo OTOGRAPH. Formed in 2004, Takashi Iura and Sachiyo Oshima utilize modern technology to create visual art inspired by art and vice-versa. In August 2004, OTOGRAPH performed a live set and installed a visual exhibition at Ryoondo's “Denshi Ongaku no Yuube” (An Evening of Electronic Music) event at Honen-in temple in Kyoto. Applying resonance phenomena as subject matter, in 2005 the duo conceived a visual installation for the “web room” at Dinter Fine Art in New York. Subsequent exhibitions were held at shin-bi in Kyoto and at the Leonardo: DiVA-Kansai exhibit at Kyoto University. OTOGRAPH's first album, From Shine, was released by Ryoondo in December 2004, followed by the second album Sounds in Motion, released simultaneously in Japan, France and the U.K. in March 2006. In 2005, they were commissioned to produce the soundtrack to the DVD Visions of Frank, released by Press Pop. OTOGRAPH integrates sensations of floating and a exquisite balance of sound and sight to deliver a performance suitable for a gallery, museum or music venue.
