Formed in 1988, rock band THE GROOVERS made their debut from Alfa Records in the following year with the album Maximum Kiss. After releasing three albums together, however, the group's vocalist left in 1993; guitarist Kazuhiko Fujii became responsible for providing the vocals, and they made a fresh start as a three piece band, with the same line-up that continues today: Kazuhiko Fujii (vocals, guitar), Bob Takahashi (bass), and Yasuchika Fujii (drums). After moving to Polydor Records in 1993, the group have continued to consistently release new albums and perform live, earning themselves a name for both their well-balanced recordings and tense live performances.
With the steady backbeat of Yasuchika's drums, Kazuhiko's solid guitar work, and Bob Takahashi's winding bass, the trio's explosive energy merges perfectly together into a world of songs that is both cool and hip, yet deep and provocative. Well respected by a wide spectrum of people, ranging from veteran artists to young listeners, THE GROOVERS have performed live and recorded together with a huge range of other artists, including GO!GO!7188, PANTA, Masato Tomobe, Motoharu Sano, Kumiko Yamashita, SION, and Kururi.
