The leader of this band is Gikyo Nakamura, who once was the owner of an independent record store in Shibuya, but now spends his life DJing. The band also consists of Ukai from COPTER4016882 and Hayashi Betomonori from PLUS-TECH SQUEEZE BOX. Together, these three make the new Tokyo dance pop trio. If you like any of these groups you will probably enjoy UTRECHT even more.

They made their debut in 2005 when they were featured in the omnibus, "SOUND OF GARDEN FOR US" as the only Japanese artist on the compilation. They then did their official debut in vinyl format which immediately sold out. Their hit album was "New Beach" which sold amazingly well in both Japan and the rest of the world. This fusion between new acoustic guitar pop and club music definitely struck a nerve in the indies scene. Overall their sound is fun catchy and very poppy electronic music.
