While a college student, Atsuko Hiyajo was deeply influenced by the Bossa Nova of Risa Ono when she was listening to the radio while studying. This inspired her to join a research group of Latin America. One of her classmates was a percussionist and together they formed a student samba group.

During school, she ran into Jiro Kobayashi who was a song writer/arranger at the time and together they formed a band and song writing group. Besides Bossa Nova, they also wrote in a style that took influences Brazilian Pops and J-POP from the 70's. They would play at live houses around the area.

In 1997, they released a single from SONY MUSIC entitled "Koyoi Kono Mama". After that they released three albums through SONY MUSIC including "Nostalgia", "Sasayakareta Yume no Hanashi", and "Rua Raranja". With their organic voice and urban melodies and harmonies they brought the real flavor of Okinawa into their music.

In 2000, Atsuko also started to write with Shigeharu Sasago.

In 2001 Atsuko got married and had a child which led to a brief break in her musical activities. She resumed back in 2002 and expanded her song writing platter beyond just writing the lyrics and ventured into writing the music itself. Her live performances were a duo between her and Shigeharu Sasago.

In 2004 she released her 4th solo album detailing Okinawan life called "Hiyajyou" through Happiness Record.

In 2006, she released her 5th solo album "LIVE+" which was a duo with Shigeharu Sasago. After that she put out songs in numerous compilations, wrote a soundtrack for the movie "Ichiban Kirei na Mizu". She also wrote lyrics for Gira Mundo's album "Cidade de Luz".

From October of 2005 to March of 2007 she worked as a radio personality for RBC-i radio. In November of 2007 she released "A Million Miles" an album which commemorated her 10 years of playing.
