With an aspiration to make a fusion between Japanese traditional music and digital music, Electrified Jet Shamisen Okita was born in March of 2001 originally as MUMAI (real name is Hiroshi Okita). A month later the first CD "MUMAI" went on sale on streets everywhere and sold 1000 copies. Going through proper distribution channels in October of the same year he released "Dokuritsukoku MUMAI" through his own label. The first week of release reported 3000 sold copies. One of his popular songs at live shows, "FuurinKazan o Hittou ni "Akatsuki"" was used extensively in the popular music program Downtown HEYHEYHEY. He also played with Juno Reactor at the FIFA World Club Trance Event.
In 2007 he got rid of the name "MUMAI" and only referred to himself as Electrified Jet Shamisen Okita from that point on. Using techno and break beats as a base, he fuses a destructive modern Shamisen with Electronic Music. This gave way to a runaway rampage of sound. Anyone who dares see his concerts will be jolted by the sheer electricity of his performance.
