Representing the Kyoto ambient scene, this one-man unit is a researcher of sorts, delving into musical structure and theories of synthesis. This cutting-edge artist is taking Electronica into the future with his randomly generated sequences and unique rhythms. Using irregular rhythmic patterns and inaudible frequencies as the basis of his original blend of music, PsysEx produces a minimalistic sound that is dynamic yet not too aggressive. Alongside music production, PsysEx is the chairman for the label Shrine, based out of Kyoto, promoting local young experimental artists and introducing their works to the world, as well as bringing in electronic artists from all over the globe to the Kyoto scene. PsysEx's first album Polyrhythm system Exclusive message was released in November 2001 and has since released several other albums both on and off Ryoondo and Shrine, contributing to a compilation album on the American label12k records in 2003, and an album on Daisyworld Discs in February 2005, which is affiliated with Haruomi Hosono of Yellow Magic Orchestra fame. In October 2005 he released Polyrhythm system Exclusive message 2 on Ryoondo and later same year released psx under Ken'ichi Itoi. PsysEx has played with an extensive list of top-notch artists, including: Aphex Twin, Cyclob, DJ Krush, DMX Krew, Monolake, Nobukazu Takemura, Richie Hawtin and Yamataka EYE, to name a few.
