mi-on's father was a Kimono maker father and her mother was a painter of Japanese style paintings. Having two parents who are masters of traditional Japanese art played a strong guiding role in mi-on's life. Instead of moving in the direction of art, she was attracted to music. She started to learn the organ at 3 years old and began the electronic organ when she was 7. After graduating high school, she became an demonstrator and instructor for companies such as Yamaha and Korg. During this time she also played in many bands and was a keyboardist for various JPOP idol concerts.
Her own musical curiosity led her to discover techno from her dealings with game companies music division. She was drawn to it and very shortly she was making her own music and appearing in various clubs and was particularly involved in the Drum&Bass scene that had developed since 1995. She even went to the extent of going to London on numerous occasions and making appearances in the scene. In 1999 she did arrangement for Smileboy in Beijing. Since then she has put out many works in anime music, video game music, drama themes, etc. She is also a member of the techno opera group, Angel Quartz. As for Japanese music that she's a fan of, that would be Tomita Isao and Ryuichi Sakamoto. As for outside of Japan, she's a big fan of bjork.
Her solo work as mi-on is highly influenced by traditional Japanese music. It is a perfect blend between ancient Japanese music and modern techno.
